Have you ever traveled and wanted to bring home a special souvenir — but one that was equally charming as well as small enough for your suitcase?
Well, hang onto your passport – because Jet Set Candy has arrived. What’s Jet Set Candy, you ask? One of the most adorable travel- and destination-inspired jewelry lines ever. Furthermore, the brand that has reinvented travel souvenirs will open its first retail jewelry location in the iconic New York City travel landmark of Grand Central Terminal at the end of July.
In other words, with Jet Set Candy, you can wear your wanderlust.
Faster than you can say, “TSA,” you will discover the bracelet charms of your dreams – and your destinations.
“The inspiration behind Jet Set Candy is that no matter where you have traveled to already, or where you go in the future, our line of travel souvenirs is a special way for you to collect, wear, and celebrate your unforgettable journeys,” said Jet Set Candy Founder and Creator-in-Chief, Nicole Parker King.
Launched in October 2014, Jet Set Candy developed the first premium line of travel souvenirs for customers to collect their global adventures in the form of jewelry that is stylish, playful, and modern, yet nostalgic and always classic. Until now, with the opening of the Grand Central Store, Jet Set Candy has been sold online, in boutiques and gift shops across the USA, at the New York Public Library, on cruise ships, as well as in Takashimaya in Singapore.
It’s All In The Wrist
Based in New York City, Jet Set Candy was conceived to fill a void in the market for a premium line of travel souvenirs. The collection includes “luggage tag” charms bearing airport codes for some 200 destinations around the world; cuffs with travel quotes, and chains in a range of styles and lengths. Among its intricate and popular moveable charms are a miniature Chrysler building with a drop-down hinge that reveals a tiny key to NYC; a Dubai magic lantern with three little chained diamonds inside to make wishes on; or a gold vermeil Matryoshka Doll that encases a miniature silver doll which in turn encases a tiny rose gold doll. Each link of its signature Infinity Charm Bracelet has a hidden hinge that opens, so that charms can be slipped on and off or changed out as easy as 1-2-3 – no visit to the jeweler needed. Then there are the “anywhere” charms such as a palm tree, clamshell, or anchor.
Love Hawaii? How about a simple little surfboard, or flip-flops?
Your favorite Swiss Miss might like the mini bar of chocolate Toblerone.
But let’s not forget the Singapore Sling cocktail shaker. The Italian Vespa scooter. Or the Cannes movie clapboard.
One of the most adorable and crave-worthy is the new Parisian charm that is a bottle of perfume, but equally enticing is the mini street sign saying “Champs Elysees.” But the most popular Paris charm, she says, is the Eiffel Tower.
All the charms and bracelets are available in sterling silver, gold vermeil, and solid gold. The packaging itself comes in candy colors, with different travel quotes inside each box. Inside you’ll find your goodies encased in map-designed tissue paper, and gift tags shaped like luggage tags. “It’s super cute,” she says.
You may just want to follow the example of one of Jet Set Candy’s billionaire customers, whose wife and friends always took “girl’s getaway” trips. He gifted his wife – and each of her nine girlfriends – with a $17,000 bracelet outfitted with 20 solid-gold Jet Set Candy charms that reflected their many trips together.
Jet Set Candy also creates custom pieces and has designed them for Vanity Fair/American Airlines; L’Oréal; New York Public Library; Tzell Travel; San Jose Tourism; W Hotels.
The brick and mortar store will be located in the Lexington Passage next to Tumi and facing Diptyque. The travel-inspired jewelry company will offer its complete range of destination-specific charms, chains, cuffs, rings, earrings, bracelets and pendants. Items come in 14k gold vermeil, sterling silver or solid 14k gold, ranging in price from $38 to $1998. The store will also feature a Deluxe Engraving machine.
“Having a shop in Grand Central has always been my dream – even before we officially launched the business,” said Ms. Parker King. She added, “This retail store will provide an intimate shopping setting within one of the world’s most architecturally-spectacular spaces. With its bustling mix of locals, commuters and tourists at a crossroads of the world, it is the perfect ‘next stop’ on our global travel jewelry brand’s own journey.”
Shop The World – Under One Roof
The interiors of the 316-square-foot space store will reflect the essence and playfulness of the Jet Set Candy brand. In addition to candy colors throughout, such as the mint green ceiling, there will be nods to travel, such as travel quotes on walls and a custom-designed, backlit cash wrap highlighting a map of the entire world. The overall theme of “The World” will be juxtaposed with “New York City.” Consumers will be able to “shop the world” by continental regions, creating a unique flow for the shopping experience. In addition to the jewelry displays that take guests around the world, a 6-foot high, hot pink Statue of Liberty will be the perfect Instagram opportunity for customers. The background color and accessories of Lady Liberty will change on a regular basis.
To commemorate the store’s debut and in keeping with its motto “Collect Your Adventures,” Jet Set Candy will launch the Passport Stamp Collection that includes charms of passport stamps of countries around the world, including the 193 United Nations-designated countries plus a number of lesser known nations as well as countries that technically belong to other countries (i.e., Hong Kong). The designs are modeled after actual passport stamps, each bearing a few extra-clever, totally original graphic details.
“The inspiration behind Jet Set Candy is that no matter where you have traveled to already, or where you go in the future, our line of travel souvenirs is a special way for you to collect, wear, and celebrate your unforgettable journeys,” said Parker King.
For the Grand Opening, the first 100 customers at Jet Set Candy’s Grand Central store will receive a special, limited edition, sterling silver mini-charm featuring the skyline of New York on one side and a Tom Wolfe quote about New York City on the other.
Best of all, any charms you select can easily fit into your Louis Vuitton luggage.
