RICHMOND, Va. — Town’s latest mural goals to have fun the legacy of Richmond native and tennis legend Arthur Ashe.
The murals, which is on the nook of Giles Avenue and Meadowbridge Street on the Northside, was sponsored by the Moving Lives of Kids Arts Community Mural Project.
The group is on a mission to color Black icons in numerous communities across the nation with the aim of displaying younger individuals they can also obtain their desires.
“At all times knew his identify rising up,” Kyle Holbrook, the manager artist for the mission, mentioned. “I used to be conscious of his contributions to, not solely the game of tennis, but in addition being a Black man and the way he carried himself to type of sway and alter any stereotypes. He was an amazing spokesperson for the neighborhood for years.”
Holbrook mentioned he hopes the mural’s up to date fashion will immediate questions and in flip result in extra individuals studying about Ashe’s life.
