AUBURN — Audrey Dowling of Westfield may have her blended media piece, “Transitioning,” featured as a part of the Schweinfurth Artwork Middle’s “Made in NY” exhibition,
The exhibition opens June 12 with 73 items by 69 artists who signify 44 p.c of the counties in New York state. That is the twenty fifth yr the artwork middle has held the annual juried exhibit, and the fortieth anniversary for the reason that Schweinfurth opened its doorways in 1981.
“The Schweinfurth has an extended historical past of celebrating the creative skills of people that dwell in New York State,” stated Govt Director Donna Lamb. “This exhibit represents all kinds of mediums, kinds, and expertise from everywhere in the state.”
A complete of 298 artists submitted work for the exhibit, which was judged by three artists: Sharon Loudon, an artist, educator and creative director of Chautauqua Visible Arts at Chautauqua Establishment; George Afedzi-Hughes, an internationally recognized painter and efficiency artist who’s initially from Ghana; and Hannah Frieser, a photographer and govt director for the Middle for Pictures at Woodstock.
The Schweinfurth Artwork Middle is situated at 205 Genesee St., Auburn. Hours are 10 a.m. to five p.m. Wednesdays by means of Saturdays and 1 to five p.m. Sundays. Admission is $7 an individual, free for members, taking part artists and kids 12 and underneath.
