Kistler Group says it has added a devoted wheel power transducer for motorsport purposes to its portfolio of measuring options. The transducer is designated the RoaDyn Racing WFT, and the corporate says that it precisely measures forces and moments performing on the wheel. This knowledge can then be used to assist tire producers and racing groups perceive tire habits, which in flip permits for the refinement of instruments akin to tire fashions.
Kistler says the transducer is particularly fitted to motorsport purposes because it captures forces performing instantly on the wheel, that are wanted to find out tire load and estimate put on. Jim Vaughan, gross sales director automobile testing at Kistler, defined, “With this knowledge, motorsports groups are in a position to develop a dependable tire mannequin and assess the tire’s dynamic habits. They’ll use the WFT knowledge to run correct real-time driver-in-the-loop simulations and to validate tire efficiency and degradation fashions.”
