Rhode Island native and Olympic swimmer Elizabeth Beisel plans to swim from the mainland to Block Island this summer season elevate to cash for most cancers analysis.
The Saunderstown native mentioned in an announcement this week she’s teaming up with Swim Throughout America to make the roughly 12-mile swim on Aug. 20.
She mentioned she needed to assist after a member of the family was identified with pancreatic most cancers. No girl has accomplished the journey from Level Judith to Block Island.
“I rapidly realized what my household was going via was sadly all too widespread and that essentially the most impactful method I may elevate funds for most cancers analysis and scientific trials can be via my swimming platform,” she told Swimmingworld.com.
Beisel swam in three Olympic video games — in Beijing in 2008; in London in 2012; and in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. She gained silver and bronze medals in London.
