The American Catholic painter Carl Schmitt (1889-1989) made
interesting inventions in using colour. He wrote broadly
at the artist’s vocation, arguing for searching for holiness via
practising one’s artwork moderately than the wrong way round, and
advocating the 3 virtues of poverty, humility and purity as a
necessity for all artists to practice. He impressed artists in different
media, like Hilaire Belloc and Hart Crane. He did all this whilst
elevating ten kids. Andrew de Sa, the Inventive Director on the
Carl Schmitt Basis, educates us about this artist who used to be
content material to color in obscurity for God.
