Croatia’s overseas minister sparked controversy via greeting his German counterpart with a kiss, at an EU ministers assembly in Berlin on Thursday.
Gordan Grlić-Radman shook palms with German International Minister Annalena Baerbock, then leaned ahead to kiss her.
He has been criticised in some Croatian media reviews, with girls’s rights activist Rada Boric describing the incident as “extremely beside the point”.
Mr Grlić-Radman defended the instant as a “heat, human solution to a colleague”. He mentioned it used to be “perhaps a clumsy second” and apologised “to whoever took it that manner.”
Ms Baerbock has no longer commented to this point.
