OJAS Listening Room at USM Modular Is Shrine to Sound

Date:

Along with his affinity for brutalist business design paired with a collection of extremely tuned ears and eyes geared in opposition to antique hi-fi parts, Devon Turnbull and his corporate, OJAS have turn into common collaborators among a who’s who of creatives spanning from the overdue Virgil Abloh to Byredo’s founder and artistic director Ben Gorham. His newest venture is as modular as it’s musical, a semi-permanent set up throughout the USM Modular Furnishings’s Soho, New York flagship retailer imagined as a temple of sound for audiophiles and the curious alike.

Set with USM Modular Furnishings towering shelving machine stocked with information, books, and audio parts, the modular furnishings’s utilitarian aesthetic makes for a wonderful pairing fronted through OJAS’ in a similar fashion audio-aesthete’s capability. Created to ask listeners the chance to “enjoy a relaxing atmosphere to consider tune, liberated from the disruption of out of doors noise,” Turnball’s and USM collaborated to ascertain a listening room sharing the sensory focusing characteristics of a temple or shrine.

OJAS Listening Room at USM Modular Furnishings stocks similarities to Turnbull’s fresh HiFi Listening Room Dream No. 1  (beneath) put in inside of London’s Lisson Gallery. However whilst that listening room devoted to “a democratic, public listening area, the place other folks may just enjoy tune thru a fine quality stereo machine with no need to possess it” exhibited a virtually desaturated minimalist setting ruled through the monolithic stature of OJAS’ signature grey audio system, Turnbull’s newest Listening Room turns of the dial a little in its retreat-like comforts with a couple of splashes of colour throughout its sparse seating.
