The Catholic Tradition Podcast: Episode 44 – Catholics Want Poetry. However Do We Need It?

Date:

Jul 20, 2019

Dana Gioia is without doubt one of the largest Catholic poets running nowadays.
On this interview he discusses how Catholic attitudes towards the
arts have modified in contemporary generations, and the revival of
passion in poetry within the tradition as a complete. Dana reads a couple of of
his poems, discusses how Catholicism has made his poetry “more practical,
extra emotionally direct, and extra unabashedly musical,” or even
provides poets some tips about collaboration with musicians and
composers. Dana and Thomas wrap up through discussing the position of the
critic and highlighting a contemporary Catholic poet Dana thinks must
be higher identified.
