Will Walden, a former spokesman for Boris Johnson, mentioned his former boss had “observed the writing at the wall” that he may well be ousted in a possible by-election induced by means of the Privileges Committee’s sanction.
Talking to BBC Radio 4’s Lately programme, Mr Walden, who mentioned he didn’t suppose the previous top minister’s determination to give up as an MP marked the top of Mr Johnson’s political profession, added: “I believe crucial factor that folks want to perceive this morning is there is just one factor using Boris and that’s that he loves to win, or a minimum of to not lose.
“And he hasn’t misplaced an election for 26 years, when the electorate of Clwyd South made up our minds he wasn’t their guy in 1997.

‘Protective his model of the narrative’
“He had observed the writing at the wall, he knew he almost certainly would lose a by-election in his marginal seat. His number one motivation right here, as it’s been for the final 12 months or so, is protective his model of the narrative.
“So by means of going, as he has, all weapons blazing, he is in a position to steer clear of defeat, he is in a position to blame just about everybody else, together with it kind of feels someone that voted Stay in 2016.
“There is not any plan however he’s making ready himself for what could be subsequent with out the humiliation of being kicked out.
“However it’s so Boris. He advised the committee that if they discovered in opposition to him, he wouldn’t admire the result – and so it has proved, there is not any nice wonder right here.”
